Over 30 years ago I made my first rod bag for my husband - an avid flyfisherman who builds his own rods. He needed a durable yet soft bag to protect his rods when they were inserted into their rod tubes.
Since then I have made numerous rod bags for fly rods in a variety of sizes for my husband and his flyfishing buddies. I've also made reel bags and heavy duty bags to hold PVC rod tubes. Whenever my husband needed a new bag, he enlisted me and my trusty portable sewing machine to create it! And, oddly enough, even though he complains about many things, he's never complained about the quality or durability of any bag I've made for him!
When our family started studying the martial arts 15 years ago, I extended my bag making to include bags for protecting our bo staffs, escrima sticks and nunchuks during transport from home to our karate club or tournament and back again. The bags I made were simple yet effective - no zippers to break, no vinyl to split! My bags served us well and became popular with many of our fellow students.
After years and years and years of sewing bags and cases for my family and friends, I've started Just in Case - Handmade Cloth Bags to share my designs with a wider audience. I will be adding additional types of bags and cases over time. Please stop by often to see what's new!
